Start jupyter-notebook

Connect to any server and start the jupyter-notebook. You can also specify a port that you would like to use. Run the command below to start the notebook on port 10000

#Run this on the remote server
<csid>@madmax:~$ jupyter-notebook --no-browser --port=10000

Set port forwarding

From your local computer, connect to a server with port forwarding set up for port 10000.

#Run this on your local computer
ssh -L 10000:localhost:10000 <csid>@madmax

jupyter-notebook withhout port forwarding

Less secure way of using jupyter-notebook:

#Run this on the remote server
<csid>@madmax:~$ jupyter-notebook --no-browser --port=10000 --ip=0.0.0.0

Use jupyter-notebook from your local computer browser

After the jupyter-notebook is running and port forwarding was set up, copy paste the URL from the terminal where you run the first command to start the notebook and open the URL from the terminal to your browser.

If someone else is already using the jupyter-notebook on the port that you want to use you will need to use another available port that is not in use.

If you are using Windows and Putty please check this guide.
